starting now.

 Now that we have an idea of what type of portfolio we're gonna do we can now start planning.

we're gearing more towards teenage angst drama sort of taking my original short film idea but just doing more with it. 

Luisa and I are going to watch Perks of Being a Wallflower so as a form of research we have an idea of how to gear towards this. 

I've read the Book but never seen the movie and I think that a similar concept would be cool. 

The book showed the internal struggles of Charlie and how his environment as a freshman in high school influenced him as a person. I want to take that concept of internal struggle and almost internal monologue and use that in our movie trailer if possible.

LEIGHT BOLB

While chatting it up in class Luisa and I came up with the idea of our trailer

The "movie" would start off seemingly good and upbeat, life is great you know? Then some trauma happens like an accident or a fall and our main character would be heavily influenced by this and get survivor's guilt and although they have their friends and they seem to be getting better the "movie" would end with the MC taking their own life. 

We have to get into more detail about it and get our shot list in specifics but the idea is there ! and I think its a pretty cool idea 

There are not many films where they kill off their MC, usually, they show how they overcome their struggles and that there's a light at the end of the tunnel but given our target audience for this "film," we want to kind of show how it's not always okay. In a nice, not-pusing suicide way.....

We want to show how even though there are ways out not everyone sees it. We want to sort of bring awareness to mental health and how a lot of people do not take it seriously which can lead to higher suicide rates.

Well, Most movies do kill off their main character sometimes but it's not really of their own volition. Like for example in Saltburn (SPOILERRRSSSS) Felix was seen as a main character, although he was a supporting lead, Oliver killed him rather than you know, doing it themselves??? 

This is very hard to explain without it sounding terrible. 

My point is that we have an idea 😅

i would like to do something creative like a short film but I'm not super filmy, I would be OK with doing a documentary, but i just finished one so i don't know if its something i wanna do.

we dont have ideas

 Male had some ideas that she had scripted out but then she decided to scrap it last minute.

I had an idea to do a coming-of-age idea but more on the angsty genuine teen route where we could make it like.....I don't know, I had a cool concept but it was shot down so we won't do that one 

She also had an idea to do a "Soul" based concept but she wanted part of it to be animated and given our time restrictions also with upcoming events in the next few months I don't think it's a good idea to do something like that especially given that none of us know how to animate and it takes a lot of time and commitment. We have a few friends she said we could ask but I do not think they'd be that committed nor willing to work on this project given that they get nothing from it and they have their own lives to handle. I just don't think they'll be as reliable as she thinks. 

I'm willing to do a concept on Soul and something touching but we don't have the time or expenses to be playing the risk factor. 

We've just hit a crossroads, male has big ideas but a lot of them have to be achievable for our level. We are high schoolers and as much as we can do great things we are normally very busy. and these things require a lot of time and attention. Now I'm not saying we won't give this project our all but we leave to California in the middle of this project and on top of that we have at least 3 more trips during this next period as well. I'm not trying to party poop but given our situations we have to have achievable goals.

We don't know what exactly we're doing but we know it will be a short film  !

Exciting right. 

While I've had a few experiences with creating a short film or being involved with creating one. Writing is NOT my strong suit.

I have a very hard time putting my thoughts into words so I like to stick to editing and the heavy-duty work like camera work and whatnot.

I have two other people working with me one of which is a writer, Maria, or what we like to call her "male" with an accent on the E so it's not male but malE. You know? 

The other is Luisa who's crazy with storytelling so it ike works perfectlyyyyyyy

Well....it's the time of year again when I devote 10 weeks of my life to a singular project...yayyyY!!!

I'm kind of excited for the project itself but I know these posts will bite my butt off. My group decided to go the short film route, mostly to avoid the music video choice, but also because we are just very creative people and want to test the limitations of our work ethic. So right now we are just developing our idea. I kind of want to go a teenage angst route, but writing is not my strong suit, so it'll take a bit to figure it out. 

I just want to hold a camera and edit! (I luv those two parts)
