!!!!!WHY CCR'S!!!!!

It's starting to hit me that this project is coming to a close. And it's hitting because we have to do CCR's.....which is not my favorite part of this whole project.

I don't know man I'm just not great with writing and long things out. I find it unenjoyable. And having to make at least 2 CCR's to answer 4 questions just does not sound appealing.

Our advisor today put us in groups to discuss our ideas for our CCR's and I have none. I've been on the move so much lately I haven't had time to think about anything. It's been go, go, go, make, make, make for 2 weeks now. Creatively, I am POOPED. DRAINED. VOID. EMPTY of creative juices. So having to push my creative limits to make 2 videos with lots of writing is going to be a new field I gotta cross.

A still from our opening

But within my group, we mostly answered questions with each other on what specifications are needed for our CCR's. We also showed each other the radio edits of our projects and gave some pointers. OH, I ended up working with my bestie Josh in my group again!!

During this time though I took some stills from our project!

Phot0 Bomb!

These are just some photos provided by the lovely Sam during filming!

I'm really having a sort of internal conflict with this project because I feel like I haven't contributed much to the process which I know isn't entirely true but I can't help but still feel that way. I really plan to help during the editing process to at least put something in. Like for filming I know I couldn't help not being there but I really wanted to, to help sam and contribute more but life has not worked in my favor the past few weeks and months.
Editing woo!!

Baby I'm Back !

Wow. So the last week was....definitely....a week.

We competed and placed 4 times! 2 honorable mentions, 1-second place, and 1 first place which that team won 2k in prize money which none of us saw coming.. then there was drama. LOTS of drama. BUT HEY now we can get back on schedule for the opening!

Throughout the next week, Sam plans to film all of wades scenes and I will update my blogs from my end!

To my knowledge, a few of Wade's scenes were filmed today and I love the pic of wade that was taken.

So far we are on schedule!

EQUIPMENT

So you're probably wondering what equipment we plan to use and from where.

So we have a cute little connection through our club called BECON. It's a TV channel where Florida students can show off their work and whatnot. So from BECON students can check out equipment to work with we just have to ask good ol' Jimmy G (Jim Gaurasci) who runs BECON-TV. So that is exactly what we did.

And it just so happens that around this time too Wade( one of our actors) would need his equipment too so it works out perfectly that he could also just use the equipment that we borrowed (with Jims permission of course) so that it's killing 2 birds with 1 stone!

ACTORS 3.14

WADEICUS AND TAI

The duo strikes again but this time we are on camera. Wade, whose legal name is Alex, is a very dear friend of Sam and I (sam and wade are dating but you didn't hear that from me). Wade and I have previously worked together on numerous projects but we were always the duo behind the camera. So now we get to act ON camera !!

Wade is going to be playing Cam Collins the man that drives the story and I will be playing Layla the main character!

Me while filming for Layla

From the beginning, we kind of imagined the characters to fit wade and I so it's great that it happened in a way we could play these characters.

Wade will be filming during spring break but this is who will be our Cam!

FILMING !!!! FINALLY!!!

So last weekend (3/12)  Sam and I filmed my section of the film opening.

We started filming and getting all of our props almost immediately. First, we had to get all of my art supplies and drawings that I'd done since I kind of forgot to make new paintings. Then we got some paint stuff done on my desk to put them up in my room. LORD, my room was a MESS during this process but it matched the look we were going for. We then printed some newspaper clippings but then my printer ran out of black ink so it was very colorful newspaper clippings.

The first shot we filmed was a pan of me from behind, it took us about 2 tries I think, and we quickly moved on to the shot of me from the front which we had to ask my mom to help us film because we didn't have anyone to open the door from behind me. our next shot was a shot from outside my window which we had many issues with.

Our first issue is that my window had a screen so it was hard to film through that but we eventually thought of a better way to film it we just needed lighting on me. That's issue number 2 the light, sam has their own light kit so we had a light but only one would work consistently the other was very flickery but after putting 4 shoes on the cord to power the light we eventually got it to work one enough to film our shot. We only had to film 4 shots so it was a very quick process, and we think it went well so yay!!

Tina Stocklosa is our savior.

Sam and I met with our advisor the other day to discuss any questions or concerns we had about our project.

We had been kind of hesitant about how much time we would lose because of how busy we are but she reassured us that as long as we got it, we got it. I mean she said it in better wording but still, the message still applies! We discussed which course of action for one of our shots would be symbolism-wise, and we also discussed a scene where awards are involved to which she said that decision would be up to us, we also discussed the use of different props to represent our new artists' obsession.

This discussion helped to make us feel more secure in our project and was really needed.

PREP PROP PREP PROP PREOP

PREP

So while we are in an awkward waiting space to film, we decided that we were going to look for any effects or sound effects that we might need to use.

We know that at the very beginning we need an audience-type sound effect. Since we already have the song that we plan to use, we have to go about adding foley sounds very strategically especially since the song is going to end up as diegetic sound. The noises we'd need are paint splatter, ripping canvas and paper sounds, the sound of paper falling,  tarp scrunch type of sound, and brushes and pencil sounds against the paper and canvases.

We plan to foley a lot of our sounds because the process of going through thousands upon thousands of sounds to find at least a decent one is not very fun.  And yes we have many different websites to use but I think because we are going for a specific type of sound and vibe it's just better to do it ourselves.

PROP

Now we have most of our props ready for when we plan to film we are just missing our two main pieces that we should be able to finish today. Everything painted had been hand done so give us honest critiques(don't)!

This Month Hates Us

This month for both Sam and I have been terrible. This is our last full week before we leave for our competition and everything is going to poop. We decided we want to try to film on Sunday of this week (3/12) to at least get my shots out of the way since finding time to film my shots was our biggest concern. But on top of our daily struggle anyways, we've been having issues with some people in our competition, thats been really messing us up and this competition is in fact 6 days away from now (3/9).

Amongst all this with our schoolwork, the trip, and spring break we completely forgot about our CCR's. So now we also have to find the time to get those done and this year its now 2 videos instead of one and with everything else going on its going to be complicated to do everything without lacking in something else.

But this competition drama is really taking a toll on Sam and I, but we kind of have to let that go to be able to get anything done and enjoy our time on the trip as well.

 Keep us in your thoughts.

Schedu-date

Small update on Sam and I's filming schedule.

So we decided that instead of designating an entire day together to make the art used in our opening. We chose to just make the art pieces separately over an allotted amount of time so that we don't waste an entire day making art. So by Friday of this week (3/10), we should have all of our props done so that when we get back from our competition and get to spring break Sam can jump into filming since I leave on the 22nd of march for a trip.

woooooo.....

The update corner

So over the course of the past few days, Our script and storyboard were completed.

Sam managed to gather the time to finish up both which I just had to proofread

This Time when doing our storyboard we made sure to be specific in our storyboard for specific shots that we knew would need more explanation to do. So under a few panels, we have a small description to make editing and filming easier.
The last part of our storyboard that's not shown is just a shot of Anne sitting at her desk and working more on art.

Our script goes into our smaller details and has a bit of the dialogue we have in our opening. we decided that the dialogue won't come from Cam as outside characters would drive our story more since at the beginning we would essentially just be watching from the outside.

Since Anne is our main character seen in the story she delivers her first line "I'll probably stay to finish this. Have fun though!" showing her character personality right off the bat. This shows how immersive she is in art and that she would rather choose art over other things.
